During any disaster, Ryder's top priority is to ensure our employees have the information and resources they need to withstand any challenging weather conditions that may affect them. As you know, Ryder subscribes to an innovative employee communications service called Send Word Now. In the event of an emergency, Send Word Now provides Ryder the ability to reach out to employees and their families to monitor their status immediately after a crisis arises.

Send Word Now contacts you at your phone and text contact points, including home/office phones, cell/satellite phone, e-mail accounts, alpha pagers, Blackberry, etc. It has proven to be a dependable, robust service, even under circumstances like blackouts and severe weather.

Several times throughout the year, Ryder will send an e-mail to encourage employees to submit or verify their contact information with Send Word Now. Please remember to click on the link and follow the instructions to ensure the Company has your most current information in the case of an emergency.

In an emergency or disaster situation, Send Word Now may be the only way Ryder can send you critical information or receive the status of your well-being. The information you provide will determine the resources by which we will contact you.

Keep these things in mind:

• Provide enough information to reach you instantly regardless of the time of day. For example, if you usually turn your cell phone off at night, it should not be provided as the only way of reaching you.
• If you provide your Blackberry phone number, the system will call the phone; if you provide the Blackberry e-mail address, the system will send it an e-mail. Send Word Now can do both.
• Do not enter a phone number more than once. Please provide unique direct-dial numbers and e-mail/text addresses that go directly to you.
• When in doubt, please provide more points of contact. Once the system is activated, we can control additions, deletions, and changes.

The information you provide will remain private within the Send Word Now framework. Send Word Now has signed a confidentiality agreement with Ryder. They will not use this information for any other purpose except notifications initiated by Ryder. Also, Send Word Now never asks for sensitive information (like credit card information) that might be used for identity theft. If you see an invitation apparently from Send Word Now that does not conform to these guidelines, please do not accept the invitation—report it.
