2007 Drivers of the Year

Ryder is pleased to announce our exceptional 2007 Driver of the Year winners. The Driver of the Year recognition program is awarded each year to three drivers who exemplify Ryder's commitment to safety and outstanding customer service.

   2007 DCC Driver of the Year - Kathy Overbay (CVS Pharmacy - Orlando, Florida)
   2007 SCS Driver of the Year - Robert Parker (Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky - Georgetown, Kentucky)

The Fleet Management Solutions 2007 Driver of the Year winner is Charles Firman. Charles drives for Ryder customer, MBM Corporation, in Westminster, Maryland, where he has worked for the past 18 years. In his 35 years as a professional driver, Charles has logged over 3.5 million safe miles. In addition to excellent safety performance, Charles is known for his positive attitude and focus on customer service. Charles was nominated by Mike Boyle, Director of Operations for Ryder's Baltimore/Washington Business Unit and by Norman Kayler, Safety & Loss Prevention Manager. The Business Unit is managed under the leadership of Rick Galvin, Senior Vice President of Operations.

The Dedicated Contract Carriage 2007 Driver of the Year winner is Kathy Overbay. Kathy, who is Ryder's first female Driver of the Year, drives for the CVS Pharmacy account in Orlando, Florida. Kathy has been a driver with CVS for 27 years, and became part of the Ryder team when their business was awarded to Ryder just over two years ago. She has driven over 1.2 million collision- and violation-free miles over the course of her 27 year driving career. Kathy has previously received Ryder's Driver of the Month and Team Driver of the Year awards, and is an authorized Highway Watch driver and a certified Smith System trainer. Kathy was nominated by Ed Caulfield, Director of Customer Logistics, and Robert Arcaro, Senior Logistics Manager. This account is managed under the leadership of John Sonia, Vice President of Operations, Dedicated Contract Carriage.

The Supply Chain Solutions 2007 Driver of the Year winner is Robert Parker. Robert drives for Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky in Georgetown, Kentucky. He has been with Ryder for 20 years and has logged over 3.4 million collision- and violation-free miles over the course of his 34 year professional career. Robert has served on the Toyota team's Safety Committee and has assisted as a trainer for new drivers joining the Toyota account. Robert was nominated by Brad Scroggin, Group Director of Customer Logistics, and Greg McCoy, Logistics Manager. This account is managed under the leadership of Dick Jennings, Vice President and General Manager of Automotive for Supply Chain Solutions.

This year's winners and their families will be in South Florida the weekend of April 12, 2008 for an award celebration culminating with a recognition luncheon on Monday, April 14.
