Illinois Retention and Destruction Schedule for Scanning or Telematics Technology

Illinois requires specific disclosures describing Ryder’s use of scanning or telematics technology as well as the retention and destruction of data gathered from those technologies.  This schedule is applicable to individuals performing work for Ryder in Illinois.

Individuals working at or performing work for Ryder may have used a time and attendance system or a security/access system that created a unique mathematical algorithm based on a finger or hand scan.  The scan itself was not saved.  This data was or will be destroyed within 90 days from the date an individual’s work at or for Ryder ends, unless a longer retention period is legally required.

Individuals working at or performing work for Ryder may be required to drive, operate, or service a vehicle that is equipped with an in-cab camera.  These devices use computer vision to detect specified risky driver behaviors and may record and store data and video in connection with incidents of those specified behaviors or other driving incidents.  This data will be destroyed when the initial purpose for collecting or obtaining such information has been satisfied or within three years from the date an individual’s work at or for Ryder ends, whichever occurs first, unless a longer retention period is required in connection with a vehicle or driving-related incident, accident, or investigation; litigation and potential litigation; or where otherwise legally required.

Individuals working at or performing work for Ryder may also be required to drive, operate, or service a small industrial vehicle equipped with video safety and/or telematics and alerting technology.  These devices use proprietary technology to detect movements and behaviors concerning the vehicle, its operations, and its surrounds, and may record and store data and/or video from such activity in connection with certain specified risky behaviors.
